A/S includes a basic file browsing feature that can be accessed by choosing the “Browse TEXT File…” menu item. This feature displays the first 10-25K in a TEXT file, optionally displaying CRs, LFs, Tabs, and Spaces as visible characters as defined in the program preferences. Only one file may be opened at a time. Hold down the option key when choosing the menu item to open any kind of file. Hold down the shift key when opening a file for browsing, to override the current preferences settings and not display CRs, LFs, Tabs, and Spaces as visible characters; hold down the option key to cause them to all be displayed as visible characters. If the file has more text than is displayed, the status line is shown in italics. The Browse window size and location are remembered.
